Laurie Cowled Regional Scholarship

Scholarship applications are now open and will close on 30 November 2025.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 27 February 2026.

The Laurie Cowled Regional Scholarship has been established for the purposes of funding a female undergraduate student relocating from a rural or regional area to undertake their studies in one of the STEM disciplines.

This scholarship will be awarded to support one (1) recipient for the duration of their program and will be paid in instalments of A$2,500 per study period, up to a maximum of eight (8) study periods.

A$5,000 per annum for up to 6 study periods for a 3-year program up to a maximum of A$15,000

A$5,000 per annum for up to 8 study periods for a 4- or 5-year program up to a maximum of A$20,000

** Bonus ranks applied as a result of any scheme will NOT apply for the purposes of awarding scholarships

Scholarship payments will be made approximately three weeks after Census Date in each Study Period, once enrolment has been confirmed.

This scholarship is offered on a yearly basis through funds provided by an external donor. If funding is not available in any given year, the scholarship will not be awarded.

Eligibility
  • commencing full time female student, in first undergraduate program
  • relocating from a regional or remote area to study at UniSC
  • permanent resident of Australia, Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or permanent Australian Humanitarian Visa Holder
  • enrolled in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering
    and Mathematics) related program, or a double degree including one of the eligible programs* listed:
    o Bachelor of Biomedical Science
    o Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology
    o Bachelor of Engineering – Civil/Mechanical/Electrical and Electronic/Mechatronics
    o Bachelor of Health Science
    o Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology
    o Bachelor of Computer Science
    o Bachelor of Medical Science
    o Bachelor of Paramedic Science
    o Bachelor of Science

*UniSC may periodically review and amend the list of eligible programs. This shall occur,
when possible, in consultation with the donor or the donor’s nominated representative.
