ACPIR offers Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities (placements / internships / work experience) to undergraduate and postgraduate students to work with projects in various fields, such as:
- Biomedical Science
- Agriculture
- Horticulture
- Agribusiness and agritourism
- Dietetics
- Nutrition
- Environmental Health
- Marine and coastal ecology
- Climate change adaptation
- Social Sciences - peoples and cultures
- International / community development
Further, all our projects have aspects of stakeholder engagement, monitoring and evaluation, data processing and analysis, literature review, administration – no matter what discipline area. The common denominator is a focus on the Pacific Islands.
We tailor a placement to fit the student’s interests, with a view to engender and nurture in the students an interest in and understanding of the research world and, of course, the Pacific Islands.

This opportunity with ACPIR was an unexpectedly confidence-building and career-propelling culmination of my Masters program. The centre is doing world-class research and projects and I learned from people who are top of their field.
